Providing wider horizons and perspectives to its students has always been the endeavour of Loyola School. The special assembly held on 13th December,2024 is in line with the same. The school hosted two distinguished speakers who addressed the students and provided them with a vision for the future and a flame of passion to excel.
The first speaker was Dr. Vincent Pereppadan, SJ. He is the Director of the Global Young Researchers’ Academy (GYRA) and an Assistant Professor of Management at XLRI's Delhi campus.
He spoke about the importance of research and technology and his vision of utilising the potential of the youth of Loyola and Jamshedpur to transform their city into likes of New York, Paris and Tokyo. And to make it possible, he presented the opportunity to the students of std 6, 7 and 8 to be a part of GYRA, where under the guidance of other fellow scientists and researchers, they will contribute towards the amelioration of their hometown. He also provided information on how students could enroll in GYRA.
The next speaker was Risav Ganguly, an alumnus of the 2024 batch who was the recipient of the prestigious Loyola Award in 2024. Risav is pursuing his undergrad degree from Howard University in the USA.
In an inspiring speech, Risav shared with his juniors how he made good use of time to add value to himself, especially during the COVID period. He exhorted his young listeners to be passionate about what they do and bring honours for their school just as he has done. He appreciated the management for playing a very supportive role in holistic development of the students and now the responsibility to take the school higher rested on the shoulders of the students.
