Echoes of Expression : Annual English Elocution Contest at Loyola School 2025

Loyola School recently hosted its Annual English Elocution Contest, a celebration of oratory excellence and literary expression. The event began with a warm welcome extended by the MC to the Principal, Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Vice-Principal Ms. Jayanthi Shesadri and a distinguished panel of judges.The contest featured three categories: prepared elocution for Std. VI to VIII and extempore speaking for Std. IX, X and XI, XII. Participants impressed all with their confidence, clarity and expressive delivery.In the first category, young speakers brought a variety of stories to life — from the humorous to the heartfelt — showcasing creativity and control.
Judges for this round were Ms. Patricia Rebello, Ms. Amrit Kaur and Ms. Aditi Roy Mukherjee.The extempore rounds for senior students were judged by Ms. Jayashree Sharma, Ms. Samita Ahuja and Ms. Priti Singh, who commended the participants’ presence of mind and spontaneity. Topics were given an hour prior and the responses were both thoughtful and impactful.Saplings and mementos were presented to all judges as a token of respect and gratitude.Ms. Gloria Gomes, Moderator of the Elocution and Debate Club, announced the results and medals were awarded by the Principal .The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Richa Mishra, Moderator of the Elocution and Debate Club.It was an inspiring morning that celebrated the power of the spoken word.
