A prayer service was held this morning in memory of Father Robert Athickal, SJ, the founder of the Tarumitra movement. A passionate environmentalist, Father Athickal inspired countless people to become "friends of trees" and dedicated a significant part of his life to the Tarumitra Ashram in Patna.

Father Athickal had visited Loyola School, Jamshedpur, in October 2023 to inaugurate the Tarumitra Centre at Jesu Bhawan, Mango, encouraging students and teachers to carry forward the mission of environmental stewardship.

The prayer service was attended by our Principal, Fr. Vinod Fernandes, SJ, Vice Principal, Mrs. Jayanthi Sheshadri, Senior Coordinator Mrs. Victoria Prasad, Tarumitra Club teachers Maitreyee, Rekha, and Roma, along with Programme Manager Ms. Pubalee. Teachers Maninder, Leelavati, Punam, and  Leena were also present.

The gathering began with a short prayer led by Tarumitra Club President Ridhima. The Vice President of the Tarumitra Club was also present, joining the school community in paying tribute to Father Robert Athickal's enduring legacy of environmental awareness and service.
